Another new project

I love starting new projects and have given up trying to resist. I simply bought more plastic drawers to store my WIPs. I want to make a beachie quilt for a friend and after looking at lots of quilts on pinterest I came up with this design. I used the window pane disappearing 9 patch from Missouri Star Quilt Co and will put wide sashing between each block. I made one test block and I think it will look good.

New Project

So I started another new project. I bought two jolly bars of Zen Chic True Blue  from the fat quarter shop to get the pattern for this quilt. I made so many silly mistakes, putting the half square triangles the wrong way, it was very frustrating. Once I finally got it right it looked great. It is an easy pattern, I was having one of those days!

Kate Spain mini

I have been trying to sort out some of my fabrics, and too many to count UFOs. I found one that was meant to be a lantern quilt but it wasn't going to line up very well so I cut the rectangles into squares and made a rail fence mini. I have been wanting to make a rail fence quilt for a while and this will do for now. I will have to think of something to do with the snowball blocks.

August OMG

A new goal for August which is probably a good thing as I have failed with the same goal the last two months. I needed a quick quilt so I made a jelly roll race quilt with low volume Blueberry Park. I need to finish it and sew on binding before the end of August. Linking to Elm Street Quilts OMG.

Prize

I recently won a $50 gift voucher from Happy Quilting for the Fat Quarter Shop. I decided to use it to indulge and buy a fat eighth bundle of Latitude by Kate Spain. I love all things Kate Spain and I love batiks so this fabric was made for me! I added a jelly roll as postage is a lot to Australia so I like to make it worth it. I am very happy with this purchase although no plans for it yet.

pillow cases

My daughter has had a Winnie the Pooh pillow case since she was a toddler but it has been looking worse each time it was washed and finally fell apart. I did not have enough fabric for a burrito style pillow case and I wanted the fabric to be up the right way. It took me an embarrassingly long time to work out how to do this. I first practised with some batik.

It turned out great!

Debs quilt

One of the reasons we bought this house was the amount of light. In the middle of winter it is great with so much light. It has made it hard to photograph quilts. I have discovered early mornings outside there is enough shade to make it possible to get a photo. I am finally going to give this quilt to my friend so I wanted to try and get a better photo.
